Birding Languedoc birding day trips Spring 2024

Scroll down for our day trip programme and sign-up form.
If you don’t live in the Languedoc and are travelling from further afield,
you might want to combine several day trips with a stay in the area.
See our selection of birder-friendly accommodation in the DIY Birding section.

You can also see the programme on the calendar page

Please read carefully through the notes below before proceeding to the booking form!

Our day trips are relaxed and birders of all levels are welcome!

We charge for these trips so that we can benefit from the presence of a professional ornithologist. This not only ensures we see more birds, but it also helps us to improve our skills with each day trip. We are likely to see many more species than those mentioned below, which are just the highlights (the form only allows for 140 characters!).

Birding Languedoc is part of La Nature du Sud, which is a non-profit organisation. At the end of the year if there is money left in the pot, we  invest in promoting local wildlife projects.

So do sign up, bring a picnic and your binoculars and join us for a fun day out as we discover the fabulous birdlife of the Languedoc-Roussillon area.

What to expect on the day!
Our fun birding day trips are run in English and guided by an experienced local ornithologist. We generally start at 8h – 8h30 and stop around 16h30. We try and stop at a café mid to late morning, but this is not always possible. Everyone brings their own picnic lunch. The amount of walking varies from trip to trip, but is mostly easy walking with no major hills involved. If you are concerned just send us an email.

Covid: At the moment there are no particular restrictions.

Contribution to costs: 45€ per day per person. There are discounts if several of you travel together or if you book 3, 4 or 5 trips at the same time.

– If we have to cancel a day trip for any reason, you will be able to choose either an alternative trip or a refund.
– If you are unable to attend a booked day trip, please email us and we will do our best to transfer you onto an alternative day trip of your choice. Please check your diary first and consider your bookings a commitment 😉

The meeting time and place will be sent to you by email 24h-48h before each trip.

What to wear/bring:
We recommend walking shoes/boots plus a wind-proof/showerproof jacket, water, hat and sun protection as appropriate.
And of course don’t forget your binoculars and a picnic 🙂

Programme: You can access a calendar view of the programme here.
Follow changes and updates by subscribing to the Day trip calendar using this link.

** N.B. Please note that these trips are not suitable for complete beginners.
Children over 15 who are keen birders are welcome to join if accompanied by a parent!
And sadly we cannot allow dogs – sorry but it’s just too complicated to manage!**

New booking and payment system through Helloasso
We are using the new booking and payment system that we trialled last year, which on the whole seemed to work quite well!
Scroll down to book your day trips and pay via the secure payment system. When you get to the second stage you may have to scroll back up the page to complete your contact details. If you get stuck or have any questions do get in touch. There is sometimes a bit of a delay on iPhones and iPads… so wait a minute or two and your booking will probably have gone through!

N.B. Helloasso will automatically add a voluntary contribution for their services to your basket, but you can remove it or change the amount. Please consider an occasional contribution as they provide this secure platform & payment system at no charge to non-profit organisations such as ours 🙂

Bookings will be open until 1 week before the trip, but each has a maximum of 10 places.
Places will be allocated on a strictly first come, first served basis.

Discount codes – You need to add this at the payment stage in the Code promo box – please read carefully
One code will apply to all bookings – so please make separate bookings for different group numbers or apply the lower discount.
You can choose between a carpool discount or a multi-trip discount. Please make sure you use the correct code!

  • CARPOOL1 if you are booking for 1 person but traveling with others
  • CARPOOL2 if you are booking for 2 people traveling together
  • CARPOOL3 if you are booking for 3 people traveling together
  • CARPOOL4 if you are booking for 4 people traveling together
  • 3TRIPS if you are booking 3 trips at the same time (regardless of number in group)
  • 4TRIPS if you are booking 4 trips at the same time (regardless of number in group)
  • 5TRIPS if you are booking 5 trips at the same time (regardless of number in group)

Many thanks to K.Allen, L.Everard, K.Martorell, A.Withers and F.Zecchino for letting us use their photos 🙂

We look forward to seeing you soon for one of our fun birding day trips – you really will see more birds with us 😉
